JC Binay Foundation began in 2005 from a small group of friends of then Makati City Mayor Jejomar C. Binay who, through private donations, supported a number of his projects and initiatives focusing on charitable activities.
From its formative years until 2010 the emphasis was on offering scholarships to poor but deserving youths, providing small grants for livelihood projects, and supporting Makati City’s social welfare initiatives.
Upon the assumption of its founding chairperson into the office of the Vice Presidency of the Philippines, the work of the Foundation had expanded to support and align with the Vice President’s priorities.
In response to this greater opportunity to serve a wider public, the Foundation has reformulated its thrusts and strategies to cover a wider scope.
JCBF partners with corporate donors and private individuals to mobilize resources to support its work towards vibrant, sustainable, and progressive communities nationwide.
It works with local sectoral organizations, civil society and non- government organizations, local government units (LGUs) and local stakeholders as its implementing partners to ensure that development objectives are attained in every project and program it supports.
To concretize its commitment to effective and transparent management of development resources, JCBF has initiated accreditation proceedings with the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) and has acquired a three-year accreditation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as an accredited Social Welfare and Development Agency (SWADA).
